CAA Employees Protests Against Outsourcing of Airports

Civil Aviation Authority protests outsourcing at Pakistan’s airports.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) staff reportedly spoke out against the privatisation of the airports. In this regard, a protest was organised by the union and officer association of the CAA at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Union officers and members tied black bands at Allama Iqbal International Airport to express their opposition to outsourcing. According to the staff, outsourcing of airports is something they will never agree to.

Outsourcing airports is harmful for the defence and national security of the country, according to the officer association.

The plan by the federal government to contract out the management of three significant airports has sparked vehement opposition from CAA personnel.

Khawaja Saad Rafique, the minister of railways and aviation, met with Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, in Lahore earlier in the month.

In order to improve airport services, the minister informed the prime minister of the developments on outsourcing and PIA reforms.
