Indian cricket team will not visit Pakistan for the ‘2023 Asia Cup’.
Instead, the match between the bitter rivals will take place in Dambulla.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal, who is now attending the ICC meetings in Durban with secretary Jay Shah, in an interview with an Indian news agency, both Dhumals confirmed. That the Asia Cup schedule has been finalized and eagerly the venue of the India vs Pakistan match has been revealed.
Cricket fans have been eagerly anticipating at least two matches this year between India and Pakistan, their bitter rivals. Prior to resuming their rivalry in the ODI World Cup in October, both nations will play each other in the Asia Cup.
Arun Dhumal, the current chairman of the Indian Premier League, has reportedly put an end to rumors and announced that the team will play Pakistan in Sri Lanka despite controversy surrounding the Asia Cup scheduling. For the 2023 Asia Cup, he said that India would not visit Pakistan and that all of their games would be played there.
After meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board interim committee chairman Zaka Ashraf, BCCI secretary Jay Shah made the choice. It has been determined that Pakistan will host four matches of the continental competition, while Sri Lanka will host nine.
He refuted claims that the Indian cricket squad would visit Pakistan. “Such a talk wasn’t held. Contrary to rumors that have surfaced, neither India nor our secretary will be visiting Pakistan. Only the schedule had been decided upon, he claimed.
Similar to the 2010 version, India will play Pakistan in Sri Lanka’s Dambulla. The sole home game for Pakistan will be against the underdog Nepal. Bangladesh versus Sri Lanka, Afghanistan versus Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka versus Afghanistan are the other three matches.
