Eminent Journalist Nazir Naji Passed Away in Lahore

Eminent journalist and the columnist Nazir Naji passed away in Lahore.

Nazir Naji was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Lahore for several days, he passed away at the age of 81.

During his long career as a journalist, Nazir Naji was associated with many newspapers and magazines including Daily Jang, Nawai Waqt, Express.

Nazir Naji was also awarded Hilal Imtiaz in recognition of his long journalistic services.

At the end of his life, the deceased was associated with Dunya Group since 2012, he was working as a group editor in the daily newspaper ‘Duniya’.

Who was Nazir Naji?

Nazir Naji started his journalistic career by proofreading in newspapers. Then he also appeared as a sub-editor and later as a co-ed news editor. Later, he started writing columns and reached the peak of popularity in this field as well.

Nazir Naji was also the speechwriter of former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif. For the same crime, he was arrested from PTV headquarters after Pervez Musharraf overthrew the Nawaz Sharif government.

Later, however, he is said to have apologized and continued to write against Mian Nawaz Sharif and in favor of the military government and the then king’s party Muslim League (N).

In the same period, he also wrote well against the rehabilitation and judicial activism of the then Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary. His political analyzes were well liked and read avidly by various sections.
