Fawad Chaudhry Remanded in Two-Day Police Custody

Court grants 2-day remand for former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry.

After police raided Fawad’s Islamabad home on Saturday, he was taken to an undisclosed location.

According to the former minister’s family, “officials in plainclothes abducted him from his house in Islamabad when he was having breakfast.”

The first information report states that Fawad was detained in relation to a case that was filed at the Aabpara police station on August 22, 2022, under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 186 (obstructing public servant in the discharge of public functions), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and 109 (punishment of abetment if the Act abetted committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment).

Along with Fawad, the FIR named over a thousand unknown people, according to the least recent news of the day.
