For a Year, Airport Main Runway was Closed

Dalbandin Airport’s main runway be closed for a year for renovations.

The Dalbandin Airport in Balochistan will have its runway number 13/31 closed to flights until August 6, 2024, according to a statement from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

To inform all airlines of the runway closure, the CAA issued a NOTAM.

Heavy rains caused damage to the airport’s runway and control tower. The runway and control tower of the Dalbandin Airport were put into need of repair by the authorities.

The main runway of Jinnah International Airport have been partially closed for one month in March 2022.

The airfield had been partially closed for 2 hours, 5 days a week, from March 1 to March 31 as a result of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority’s notice.

The alternate runway was now being used by all aircraft for takeoffs and landings.

The closure was necessary to remove tyre rubber from the runway that gets stuck there during takeoffs and landings.
