Prominent journalist Salim Safi reinforced this narrative when he posted a Tik Tok video of a couple dressed for their wedding on former Twitter X. Safi criticized the KP Governor for allowing such practices.
Soon after, there was an uproar on social media as fans and critics gathered to discuss the issue.
Another fresh news came out on Wednesday. Late on Tuesday night, KP Governor Muaz Fida’s media representative clarified that wedding photoshoots are always permitted at the governor’s residence.
Rumors denied
Salim Safi posted a screenshot of an explanation in which Fida denied rumors that the governor’s mansion was being used for a photo shoot.
“Recently married couples have the same access to the public Governor’s House as anyone else,” he said, according to a video of the couple formally requesting permission for a photo shoot in a video that went viral on social media.
Fida said that before Ghulam Ali was governor, a fee was charged for this type of photo shoot, but the fee was abolished. According to him, anyone can use the governor’s mansion for this kind of photography and gain access to a specific area.
It is worth noting that public spaces in Pakistan and all over the world are rented out for events or photo sessions at a small cost. The Lahore Governor House Estate was cleared for commercial use in March 2020 by then Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar to pay for its operating expenses.
