Govt Allows Pakistan Cricket Team to Visit India for ICC

Pak cricket team set to visit India for the October 2023 ICC World Cup

Pakistan has insisted without wavering that politics and sports should not be intermingled. As a result, it has chosen to send a cricket team to India in order to compete in the next ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, according to a statement released on Sunday by the Foreign Office.

It was further said that Pakistan believed that its commitments to execute obligations relating to international sports should not be hindered by the nature of its bilateral relations with India.

“Pakistan’s decision demonstrates its constructive and responsible approach vis-à-vis India’s intransigent attitude, as the latter had refused to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.”

However, the security of its cricket team was a major source of concern for the administration.

“We are discussing these issues with the Indian government and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Pakistan Cricket Team’s tour to India should be completely safe and secure, according to the FO.

The news comes after a committee set up by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup in India briefly discussed sending a mission on Thursday to assess security arrangements.

The committee, which was presided over by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, was made up of the heads of the national security agencies as well as the Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, the Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, the Minister of Inter-Provincial Coordination Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari, and the Foreign Secretary.
