‘Hadsa’ Drama is Banned by PEMRA Following Criticism

Controversy surrounds Kiani’s Hadsa drama, as it’s allegedly based.

The broadcasting and rerun of the drama series “Hadsa” have now been categorically prohibited by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) in conformity with the relevant laws. The Authority on X issued a formal statement stating that the offensive content of the drama was the main reason for the broadcast restriction.

The formal complaint against the in question drama serial was submitted to the court, along with a request for action under Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance 2002 and other applicable legal conditions. Additionally, PEMRA has also gotten a ton of comments from viewers on its X account about the “plot and theme of the drama serial.”

Viewers are criticizing the plot of “Hadsa,” which is based in part on an incident that occurred on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. According to the general public, the portrayal of such heinous behavior would not only hurt the unfortunate victim but also harm Pakistan’s reputation abroad and lead viewers to assume that Pakistan is a dangerous place for women, the authorities claimed.

The authority further stated that the drama series had been watched and that its plot and plotline were wholly improper, unsettling, and did not accurately represent Pakistani society. This drama series has sparked a social media and public outrage, and PEMRA, the regulator, is receiving criticism for its inaction.
