What is Kidney?

The kidney consists of millions of fine vessels, lined with reticulated cups. Their job is to filter the blood that enters the kidney through the vessels and return the blood to the circulatory system. During this process, the kidneys maintain the balance of various salts, sugars, proteins and water in the blood.

That is, according to the needs of the human body, salts and water are allowed to return to the blood and excess amounts are excreted from the body in the form of urine, but proteins and sugars go back completely.

The kidneys are the most important organ of our body. which not only balance the composition of blood but also maintain the quality of blood pressure.

The length of a healthy male kidney is 11 cm while the length of a healthy female kidney is 10 cm.

Kidney Patient:

The main function of the kidneys is to clean the blood in the human body. 1500 liters of blood passes through the kidneys every 24 hours.

A kidney patient often complains of nausea and loss of appetite, can’t get rid of excess water from the body, which causes swelling of the whole body or around the eyes.

Some patients also experience shortness of breath and decreased urine output. Waste and toxins accumulate in the blood.

If salt balance is not maintained, salt intake often increases, leading to high blood pressure. Some of these salts can be harmful to the heart, causing jaundice due to anemia.

Even a little walking causes difficulty in breathing, irregular objects often lead to vomiting and the patient becomes unconscious and dies if left untreated.

There are many causes of kidney failure, but in our country, the main causes are sugar, blood pressure, kidney stones, inflammation of the kidney, swelling, and especially in our country, there is a lot of use of pesticides and other unknown drugs kidneys are affected.

Obstruction of urine output due to enlargement of male glands in kidney ducts and some hereditary and congenital diseases are also major reasons for this.

It is very important for diabetes and blood pressure patients to consult a kidney specialist because these two diseases affect almost all organs of the human body, but the kidneys are especially vulnerable kidney failure can be prevented by treatment and prevention.

Kidney Failure:

In a healthy person, kidney failure can occur due to excess fluid or blood loss from the body.

Kidney Replacement:

In the case of complete kidney failure in a patient between the ages of five and twenty-five, the best treatment is a kidney transplant.

The blood group of the donor and recipient must be the same, the closer the blood relationship between the recipient and the donor, the higher the chances of success in kidney transplantation.

Kidney transplantation from close relatives has a high success rate in kidney transplantation.

The annual success rate of transplanted kidney in case of relative donation is about 91% compared to about 83% in case of non-relative donation.

Diet of Kidney Patients:

Patients with kidney failure should be aware of their diet. Half of the treatment for these patients is careful diet.

Proteins are an important component of human diet but when the kidneys become weak, the amount of protein in food should be reduced, but should not be stopped completely.

Similarly, fresh juices and certain fruits including bananas, dates, canes, malts and leafy vegetables should be avoided as they contain high levels of potassium which is harmful for kidney failure patients.

Its excess affects the heart these patients have excess phosphate and calcium deficiency, so they should avoid milk, meat, dry fruits and pulses.

More than 170 million people in Pakistan are suffering from kidney disease, among which chronic kidney disease and kidneys stones are notable.

It is said that by 2040, it will be the fifth leading cause of medical deaths worldwide. The main cause of this disease is high blood pressure and diabetes.

In the early stages, most people do not show symptoms of this Kidney disease , but as the disease progresses, blood disorders begin to develop.

It is important for people to know how their kidney health is and what steps they can take to keep them healthy.

In order to maintain long-term kidneys function in a patient with chronic kidney disease, the following steps need to be taken.

Can Stop smoking tobacco and make sure to drink plenty of water. Experts consider it necessary for an adult to drink 2 to 4 liters of water per day.

This helps in the excretion of stone-forming minerals in the urine, which accumulate in the kidney due to low water intake and form stones.
