ICC Geoff Allardice announces plans to unveil full World Cup schedule.
“I think we could be getting the world cup schedule from the hosts today, and we need to speak with all of the participating teams and the broadcasters briefly. Afterward, we’ll publish that as soon as we can.”
He continued, “When we put on events, we very much work hand in hand with the hosts.”
“There are some situations where there needs to be a lot of consultation, both inside the cricket system and with governments, etc.
A host has a lot of duty to create a quality event, and they must follow the proper checks and balances, according to Allardice.
It is significant to note that the 2019 ODI World Cup schedule, which will be played in England and Wales, was released 13 months before the first match.
A full 18 months before the first match, the schedule for the 2015 event in Australia and New Zealand was made public.
Although the ICC has not formally confirmed any dates, ESPN Cricket Info stated in March of this year that the event is expected to begin in October and end in November.
According to Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the schedule would be revealed during the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which is now taking place at The Oval.
Allardice, however, made no promises about this time frame.
Allardice was asked during the interview if Pakistan refusal to play in India had anything to do with the apparent delay in the announcement of the fixtures.
ICC CE declined to answer.
“Until I look at the timetable… I’m awaiting word on that, and I’m hoping to hear something in the next day or two,” he remarked. “You control what you control, and our events staff is quite skilled in organising cricket events in all different nations.
“And I believe that’s the strategy being used by our team, which is working on the things they can advance for the event. We’ll start working on it quickly as soon as we obtain that information, he said.
