Faisalabad: Mob attacks church, destroys church following blasphemy.
In the Faisalabad district’s Issa Nagri area of Jaranwala, a mob set fire to homes and church. Police arrived at the scene to control the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation, but the situation is still hostile.
After the mob arrived, many of the locals left. The cross that was perched atop the church was smashed and destroyed by the mob. They then moved on to ransacking a nearby church.
Four buildings in the Isa Nagri region, according to pastor Imran Bhatti, were looted. He continued by saying that the home of a Christian housekeeper who had been accused of blasphemy had also been destroyed.
Usman Anwar, the head of the Punjab police, stated that the area had been roped off and that officers were in negotiations with the demonstrators.
Words fail me as I write this, said Azad Marshall, president of the Church of Pakistan. The Jaranwala event in the Pakistani district of Faisalabad has caused much anguish and distress among us, bishops, priests, and laypeople.
As I type this message, a church building is on fire. Christians have been tortured and harmed after being wrongly accused of breaking the Holy Quran, and Bibles have been desecrated.
Horrific persecution of Pakistani Christians taking place right now in Faisalabad. Their homes are being torched. There’s nobody to help. Journalists who want to cover please DM me #Pakistan #faisalabad #blasphemyLaw pic.twitter.com/42iBIG3UDU
