Accepting Islam
In 2018, O’Connor changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat after converting to Islam. In October 2018, she stated on Twitter, “This is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim,” “Any intelligent theologian’s journey comes to an end here,” All biblical research points towards Islam. It renders all other scriptures unnecessary.
In a 2019 interview, she spoke about how she converted to Islam and claimed to have started reading religious texts from other faiths in an effort to discover the ‘truth’ about God. I never imagined I would join a religion, but because of my strong prejudices against Islam, I saved Islam for last, she added.
But after beginning to read the Quran, specifically chapter 2, she recalled thinking, “Oh my God, I am home.” “I didn’t know it, but I had been a Muslim my entire life.”
