Melbourne Considered the Hosting PAK vs IND Test Match

MCC explore hosting Test match between India and Pakistan, since 2007.

The PAK vs IND match was only held in Asia Cup and the 20 and 50-overs World Cups since hosting Pakistan in a bilateral limited-overs series in 2013.

The two last met at the Twenty20 World Cup in October, when more than 90,000 fans filled the Melbourne Cricket Ground to watch India win in a suspenseful game down to the last ball. According to MCC Chief Executive Stuart Fox, the atmosphere at that game showed that it was not hard to fill the stadium for a Test.

Fox told radio station SEN, “I’ve never felt anything like the atmosphere for that game.”

“The commotion after each ball was incredible. At the MCG, three straight tests would be wonderful because you could fill the stadium each time. That issue has been raised with Cricket Australia. I am aware that Victoria’s government has done the same.

Between the extremely busy schedule and how much I can understand, it’s extremely complicated. Therefore, I believe that presents a bigger challenge. Fox expressed his hope that the International Cricket Council, which regulates the sport internationally, would hear Cricket Australia’s continued advocacy for the proposal.

I believe it would be much better to celebrate the win with a full house and that atmosphere, Fox said. When you notice that some stadiums around the world are empty.
