Military chief and top officers killed in helicopter crash in Kenya.
On Thursday, a military helicopter crash in a rural area close to the Kenyan border with Uganda, killing nine senior military officials and Kenya military head, General Francis Omondi Ogolla.
William Ruto, the president of Kenya, announced three days of mourning after confirming the news. The president disclosed that at the time of the crash, the authorities were paying a visit to troops involved in operations in the northern area of Kenya.

Nine other military officers perished in the incident, but two persons somehow survived. In a nearby hospital, the survivors are still receiving care.
The military head, who led the Kenya Defence Forces for little more than a year, was a highly decorated officer. After forty years of service, he is a four-star general.
In addition, he is a qualified fighter pilot who oversaw the Kenyan Air Force before to being appointed by the Kenyan president to head the armed forces in 2023.
Concerns over the upkeep and safety of Kenya’s military hardware and aircraft were raised at the time of the disaster. There have been five military helicopter crashes in less than a year, according to sources.
Authorities in Kenya are presently looking into what caused the tragedy.
