Special teams were formed by Pakistan Customs to launch anti-smuggling operations against cigarettes with foreign origins that are being smuggled into the nation.

Pakistan Customs stated that it is reaffirming its commitment to stop smuggling.
An official statement stated that all IREN hubs stepped up their operations against companies selling non-duty paid and counterfeit cigarettes as part of the ongoing nationwide campaign against the illicit cigarette trade in order to prevent revenue losses for the national exchequer.
The Track & Trace System (TTS) will be implemented nationwide, according to FBR Chairman Ashfaq Ahmed. The government of AJK has also requested that the TTS’s scope be expanded to include cigarette manufacturing facilities situated within AJK borders.
