Pakistan Defeat Afghanistan to Advance to the U-19 Asia Cup Semi Final

Pak beat Afghanistan, securing a spot in the U-19 Asia Cup semi-final.

With the bat, Pakistan amassed 303 runs. Afghanistan was able to score only 220 runs in 48.4 overs while chasing the 304-run target. Tayyab Arif and Ubaid Shah each claimed three wickets for Pakistan U-19 asia cup.

Pakistani batsmen Shahzaib Khan and Shamyl Hussain each scored 79 and 75 runs. Mohammad Riazullah scored 73 runs in addition to them.

Additionally, India has advanced to the semifinals.

Pakistan’s opening duo of Shamyl and Shahzaib, who were asked to bat first, forged a brilliant partnership that resulted in 115 runs. With seven boundaries and five maximums, Shamyl showed her dominance early on, hitting 75 from 54 to put pressure on the opposition.

The partnership was broken by Afghanistan U19 captain Naseer Khan Maroofkhil, who trapped Shamyl LBW. Shortly after, he struck once more, eliminating Muhammad Tayyab Arif in the same manner. With Shahzaib and Riazullah at the crease, Pakistan U19 was up 154–2 at the half. Together, the two batted to raise the total by 76 runs.

The next batter to return to the pavilion was Shahzaib, who made 79 from 95 balls, including nine fours and a six, before he was caught off the bowl of Faridoon Dawoodzai.

Dawoodzai also removed Arafat Minhas in his next over. Soon after, Saad and Mohammad Zeeshan were removed from the game by right-arm pacer Khalel Ahmed, who scored on two straight deliveries.

Alongside Riazullah at the wicket was Azan Awais, who had scored an undefeated century in the previous match. Before falling for Dawoodzai’s third wicket of the day, he made 20 from 19, including three boundaries.

Before being removed by left-arm seamer Bashir Ahmad in the 46th over, Riazullah became the third batter in Pakistani history to reach a half-century (73, 69b, 5x4s, 2x6s) in the innings, guaranteeing that the team would be able to make a respectable total. He dismissed Pakistan for 303 in 48 overs by taking two more wickets in his next over.
