Severe cold spell forecast for Pakistan, temperature may drop to 15°C.
As per reports, the cold spell will begin on January 10 and last until January 14. Mountain ranges areas are predicted to experience significant snowfall throughout this timeframe.
Snowfall is anticipated in the ascending limb of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu-Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and KP. In addition, snow might collapse in Murree.
The northwestern and western regions of Sindh are predicted to have temperatures that are close to freezing, while the northwestern and northern regions of Punjab are predicted to experience temperatures that are below freezing.
This region experiences a cold wave because a weak polar vortex allows Siberian winds to drift here with full force. Severe Siberian winds are unable to reach this area owing to the intense polar vortex.
Temperatures as low as -10°C are possible in Balochistan’s northwestern, western, and part of the district, while the same is anticipated for upper portions of KP. In GB and AJK, the temperature might fall as low as -15°C.
In an interaction with ProPakistan, meteorological analyst and Pak Weather CEO Owais Hyder claimed that record-breaking winter weather phenomena are anticipated in the next days.
