For the first time in the country’s history, a three-person national women’s squad has left for Jordan to compete in the International Tent Pegging Championship.
From September 22 to 24, the Championship will happen in Petra, a historic and ancient city in Jordan.
This will likely be Pakistan’s first time taking part in a major women’s tent pegging competition.
The Pakistani women’s team is competing in important international competition for the first time, based on Sahibzada Sultan, president of the Equestrian Federation of Pakistan (EFP).
The team is well-prepare, and hopefully, we’ll play well, he continued.
The EFP previously organised an open trial to decide on the national women’s squad for the competition.
According to team coach Haroon Bandial, “the women’s national team was select through an open trial for the first time in Pakistan’s history.”
Tent pegging is a traditional sport of equestrian discipline and has been play in Pakistan since many years.
The sport is internationally played in a lot of countries around the Global, but is most popular within the commonwealth countries. As per Equestrian Federation of Pakistan, as per a regional comparison, Pakistan holds the difference of making the highest number of tent pegging champions than any other country.
