Pakistan challenged Netherlands to score 287 runs in ICC ODI WC 2023.
In the second match of the 13th edition of the World Cup hosted by India, the Netherlands won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. Fakhar Zaman and Imamul Haq opened for Pakistan.
The national team had a disappointing start. Fakhar Zaman scored 12 runs, and Imamul Haque scored 15 runs before they were dismissed. Captain Babar Azam, who came third, could not support the team and returned to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs.
Middle-order batsmen Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan took charge of Pakistan’s faltering batting line-up. Both the batsmen scored half-centuries and put on a 100-run partnership. Thus, Pakistan’s total score reached 160.
Saud Shakeel and Rizwan got out by playing individual innings of 68 and 68 runs, Nawaz stood out with 39 and Shadab 32 runs.
Bus de Leyde of the Netherlands took four wickets while Ackerman took two wickets.
