PCB reportedly removes Babar Azam as captain across all formats.
According to sources, the board will accept Babar Azam resignation; if not, PCB will remove him from his position.
The decision resulted from Pakistan’s poor performance in all three areas of the game—bowling, batting, and fielding—preventing them from progressing to the World Cup semifinals.
They went on to say that Shaheen Shah Afridi for the Twenty20 International series in New Zealand and Shan Masood for the forthcoming Test series against Australia are both excellent contenders for the captain’s position.

According to the sources, Shaheen may captain the Green Shirts in the T20 World Cup the following year.
Although the Green Shirts appointed Babar as Test and white-ball captain in 2021 and 2019 respectively, they haven’t won an Asia Cup or an ICC championship under his leadership.
Despite being the top-ranked team entering the World Cup, Pakistan failed to demonstrate their abilities and exited the competition during the group stage.
Following the Green Shirts’ World Cup defeat, team director Mickey Arthur threw his support behind a “depressed” Babar, stating that it’s not a “crime to make mistakes.”
Later today, the skipper is expected to meet with Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the PCB Management Committee, and an announcement regarding his captaincy is anticipated to follow.
