Peshawar Mosque Bomber was in Police Uniform

Peshawar mosque attacker wore police uniform; police chief Moazzam.

On January 30, a massive explosion occurred in a mosque in the Police Lines area of Peshawar during noon prayer, killing over 100 people and injuring 400 people, mostly policemen.

Briefing the media about the progress in the Peshawar blast investigation, the KPIG said that the suicide bomber entered the Police Lines area on a motorcycle and the police traced his movement from the CCTV footage has been detected. He said that the Peshawar blast was a suicide attack and we have traced the attacker.

“The police have obtained CCTV footage of the movement of the bombers on a motorcycle dressed in police uniform entering the police lines,” the officer revealed, adding that investigators have been called from the blast site. “We have found ball bearings used in suicide vests under the rubble of the mosque,” he told the media, adding, “10-12 kg of trinitrotoluene (TNT) was used in the attack”.

The IGKP said the police also found a piece of the suicide jacket worn by the attacker. He added that the CCTV footage showed that the assailant was wearing a simple jacket with a mask on his face.

“The attacker, who was in police uniform, had asked the constable at the gate of the police lines about the location of the mosque,” he said, adding that the police had identified the attacker with the help of CCTV footage. has been identified and the next phase will be ongoing investigations to arrest the attacker’s handlers.

“I am not holding anyone responsible for the attack… it was my mistake and I am taking responsibility for it,” Muazzam Jah Ansari said.

Speaking at a press conference today about the status of the investigation, Ansari said the police have recovered a ball bearing from the blast site.

Denying the reports that the death toll in the blast reached 100, he said that the actual death toll in the Peshawar blast is 84 and the police department will release the final list of the dead and injured in a day or two.

It should be noted that there was a loud explosion as a result of a suicide attack in the police lines of Peshawar during the Asr prayer on Monday.

According to the latest data, at least 100 people have been confirmed dead in this attack, while around 400 people have been injured.

The security officials said that the explosion took place at 1:40 PM on Monday when the Zuhr prayer was being offered, as a result of which the roof of the mosque collapsed.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the blast at a mosque in police lines in Peshawar.
