PM Modi inaugurates India first underwater the metro route in Kolkata.
According to Indian media reports, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Kolkata’s first underwater metro Route. Some have called these two underwater tunnels a masterpiece of architecture.
He also laid the foundation stone of multiple connectivity projects worth Rs 15,400 crore.
It is the first underground metro tunnel in India, and it crosses a major river in Kolkata, showing the country’s progress in building infrastructure.
The two tunnels, 520 meters long under the river, are part of the 4.8 km metro rail tunnel that runs between Howrah and Kolkata.
More than 3,000 passengers will travel every hour on the train tracks that will cross the river bank 52 feet below the surface.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Bengal Governor Dr. CV Ananda Bose, as well as other important officials and dignitaries.
