PTI Decides to Postpones Intra-Party Elections 2024

PTI has decide to postpones its intra-party polls, schedule for Feb 5.

As to media reports, the members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are actively involved in their election campaigns for the upcoming general elections in 2024, hence the party decided to postpones its intra-party polls that were initially set for February 5.

PTI announced that it would organize intra-party votes following the general election. The results of the current election campaign would be disclosed, along with a revised timeline for these internal elections.

Just a day earlier, PTI’s official X account published the schedule for the intra-party polls, which was disclosed by Federal Election Commissioner Raoof Hassan.

But party members are fully dedicated to their roles and obligations in the present election campaigns, which is why they decided to postpone the polls.

This development comes after the electoral watchdog previously revoked the PTI’s electoral symbol, “bat,” in response to a petition filed by founding member Akbar S.

Babar, who contested the intra-party elections on the grounds that they were not held in accordance with the regulations.

The Peshawar High Court initially ruled against the election body’s judgment, but PTI later requested relief.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) filed a review, which was approved by a two-member bench of the PHC, so the comfort was fleeting.

PTI then appealed the case to the Supreme Court, but the ruling of the high court was affirmed.

Given the party’s present concentration on the approaching general elections, the decision to postpone intra-party polls seems to be a calculated one.
