Senior TTP commander’s killed in Afghanistan’s Kunar province clash.
Commander TTP Lucky Marwat Atiqur Rehman, popularly known as Tipu Gul, was wanted by Pakistan’s security forces for his involvement in the killing of several security and police personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
TTP insiders told the media that Rahman had planned multiple attacks targeting security personnel. In February, a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police operation identified Rehman as one of the 12 TTP militants killed during the operation. However, the banned organization has denied these reports.
However, TTP sources today confirmed the death of their commander during the exchange of fire.
TTP is a terrorist organization that has been fighting against the state of Pakistan since 2007. The group was formed from splinter elements of al-Qaeda and other militant factions seeking to impose Sharia law in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The terrorist organization is responsible for killing thousands of innocent people including children. The TTP was also involved in the heinous attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar in December 2014.
Since 2018, the group has shifted its policy away from attacks on civilians and targeting Pakistani military personnel and intelligence operatives in retaliation for a Pakistani military operation in North Waziristan that killed key TTP militants. The infrastructure was completely destroyed.
