Shehbaz Sharif criticizes suspension of Imran Khan’s case sentence.
The former premier said in a message on X, formerly Twitter, that the supreme court’s leniency toward the PTI leader Imran Khan had “influenced” the IHC. “The punishment of the “favorite” has been suspend, not terminated.
“Good to see you” and “Wishing you good luck” were the Chief Justice’s greetings that reached the Islamabad High Court. The former premier said that the justice system should be concerned if everyone knows the outcome before the decision is made.
He said that the lower court would follow suit when it received a “clear message” from the upper judiciary.
He said, criticizing the courts for granting relief to Khan: “A monitoring judge was appointed to ensure Nawaz Sharif’s punishment, [and now] the chief justice himself [has become] a monitoring judge to save the ‘favorite’.”
The IHC decision today represents a significant legal victory for Khan, who was previously disqualified from running in the upcoming elections after Additional Districts and Sessions Judge Dilawar Humayun found him guilty of corrupt practices involving the state gift repository and sentenced him to three years in prison and a Rs100,000 fine in the Toshakhana case.
