Supreme Court declares Election Commission’s March 22 order on Punjab.
A Supreme Court three-member workbench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, and Justice Munib Akhtar — revealed the reserved verdict in the PTI’s petition challenging the Election Commission of Pakistan’s order postponing the elections in Punjab and KP.
The Supreme Court declared the ECP’s order postponing the installation which is certainly provincial until October 8 as “unconstitutional” and ordered the federal government to release Rs21 billion in funds for elections in Punjab by April 10.
The courtroom that is top to carry out Punjab polls on May 14. The SC further directed the caretaker government in Punjab to aid the percentage.
“The judge will issue an order that is a proper instance of non-provision of resources,” the verdict read.
Regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa polls, the SC three-member workbench said the problem will stay under debate as through the course of the hearing the body represented the governor that is provincial.
