SUKKUR: Accountability court in Sukkur has ordered the provincial home secretary to remove Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
On Thursday, the Supreme Court granted release to PPP leader Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah, who had been imprisoned for more than two years after being arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in September 2019.
Khursheed Shah, who is also a Federal minister for water resources, is the main accused in a Rs 1.23 billion corruption case in which 17 people are also charged.
Including Nephew Syed Awais Qadir Shah (Former provincial minister) and others. The court allowed a top PPP politician permission to travel abroad for treatment and ordered him to post a Rs1 million bond as guarantee with the court.
The PPP’s Shah was barred from travelling in 2019. It is worth noting that the anti-corruption body filed an asset beyond means reference of Rs 1.23 billion against Syed Khursheed Shah and 17 co-accused. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also named Khursheed Shah’s two wife, two sons, and son-in-law in the reference.
