A pocket watch found on the body of the richest passenger of the famous ship Titanic, which sank during its maiden voyage, has been auctioned for 1.46 million dollars (about 42 million Pakistani rupees).

The opening bid for a 14-carat gold Waltham pocket watch by John Jacob Astor IV was $64,000, bought by an American citizen.

The English initials of John Jacob Astor’s name ‘JJA‘ are engraved on the watch.

When John Jacob Astor’s body was found in the Atlantic Ocean seven days after the Titanic sank after hitting an iceberg in April 1912, this watch was found with him.

They also found a diamond ring, gold and diamond cuff links, 225 pounds and $2,440 in cash.

After the watch was repaired, it was returned to the Astor family and was used by their son, but now it has been decided to auction the watch.
