Turkey: Five People Died in the Explosion of a Missile

Deadly Explosion at Ankara Missile Plant Five Killed, Several Injured.

An explosion at a rocket missile plant and an explosives plant in Turkey caused a building to collapse on Saturday, killing all five workers inside.

The explosion occurred at around 8:45 a.m. inside the state-owned Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation on the outskirts of Ankara, according to Governor Wasp Sahan.

According to Sahin, the explosion was likely caused by a chemical reaction that occurred during the manufacture of gunpowder, but the exact cause of the explosion was not immediately understood. According to reports, a part of the structure collapsed after the blast, and an operation has been started to evacuate the people trapped under the debris.

The explosion was so intense that it broke the windows and glass of nearby buildings.

Ambulances and fire trucks rushed to the scene, and smoke was seen billowing from the compound, according to private NTV television.

According to the broadcaster, family members rushed to the scene looking for updates on their loved ones.
