ECP to announce the verdict tomorrow on Karachi LG Elections delay.
The ECP reserved its verdict on the delay in Karachi LG polls on November 15. After hearing arguments from both sides, the country’s highest electoral authority withheld its decision. Last week, the Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to announce the schedule for the LG polls in Karachi and Hyderabad as soon as possible.

The court ordered the Sindh government to provide security and other facilities for the LG polls after hearing appeals from Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf requesting urgent LG polls in Karachi and Hyderabad. It should be mentioned that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan had petitioned the SHC to postpone the Karachi and Hyderabad LG elections until fresh revisions to the LG Law were made.
