Saudi Arabia Get Hosting of Asian Football Confederation Asia Cup 2027

Saudia Arabia Gets Hosting Rights of (AFC) Asia Cup 2027

Saudi Arabia awarded the hosting rights for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

There were just two bids competing for the hosting rights of the Asian Football Confederation AFC event in 2027, Saudi Arabia and India. Previously, Qatar had expressed interest in hosting the competition but withdrew after being awarded the right to organize the 2023 AFC Asia Cup because of China’s stringent COVID-19 regulations.

India withdrew as the de facto host of the 2027 Asia Cup owing to a lack of football infrastructure in the nation; KSA was then named as the replacement. The U-17 Women’s World Cup was recently held in India, but it’s a little early for the country to host a big event after being recently barred from FIFA due to political meddling.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) President, Kalyan Chaubey, disclosed that the board’s present priorities are to enhance football at all levels and improve the nation’s infrastructure before they can organize a significant football event.

The biggest soccer event in Asia will take place in the Kingdom for the first time ever. Three times have Saudi Arabia taken home the coveted trophy, and they most recently stunned the footballing world by defeating Argentina in the current 2022 FIFA World Cup.

However, after losing their following two games by a razor-thin margin, they were unable to advance. The Women’s Asia Cup might be held in the Kingdom in 2026.
