A month post Noor Jahan death, Karachi Zoo elephant Madhubala succumb.
Eighteen-year-old elephant Madhubala had been living in isolation since April when her partner Noor Jahan tragically died. Recently, blood samples from a sick cow were tested by a team of veterinarians from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, which detected the virus.
According to a zoo official, Madhubala likely contracted the virus from her former mate, who died of a blood parasite, according to her post-mortem results.

On the condition of anonymity, a government official said Madhubala was undergoing treatment for the disease, which would continue till the next samples.
After the unfortunate demise of Noor Jahan the elephant last week, it was already announced that more than an acre of land is being earmarked for Madhubala in the Karachi Safari Park.
Apart from receiving instructions, a container will also be made for Madhubala. The shifting process is reportedly in the first stage as the area has not been in use for over 50 years, it was a complete forest.
Madhubala is a female African elephant at the Karachi Zoo in Pakistan. He was reportedly captured at a very young age in Tanzania and separated from his mother before being brought to Pakistan. In August 2022, the Four Paws team successfully extracted the decayed teeth of Madhubala at the Karachi Zoo.
