Pakistan Railways raises fares by 10% in response to fuel price hike.
In this regard, the fares of all passenger trains and shuttle express have been increase by 10 percent, according to a notification issued by the Pakistan Railways Department.
The new train fares announced as per the regular notification of the Railway Department will be applicable from 17th August 2023.

It should be noted that the transporters have increased the fares by 20 to 30 percent as a result of the increase in the prices of petroleum products yesterday.
After increasing the prices by the transporters, the fare from Lahore to Islamabad has been increased from 1800 rupees to 2300 rupees. When the fare from Lahore to Mansehra was 2400 rupees, now it has become 2800 rupees.
Similarly, the fare of Muzaffarabad and Dera Ismail Khan has increased from Rs 2,500 to Rs 2,900 and Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,500 respectively.
The sudden increase in fares is creating a reluctance among passengers and transporters believe that an increase in the existing fares is inevitable in view of the increase in the price of diesel.
It should be noted that the caretaker administration has increased the price of petrol by 17 rupees 50 paise and the price of diesel by 20 rupees per liter for the next 15 days.
In the announcement made in this regard, it is said that the new price of petrol is 290 rupees 45 paise and the new price of diesel is 293 rupees 40 paise per liter.
