Former Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak dies at 49 after battling cancer.
Widely regarded as one of Zimbabwe best cricketers, Heath Streak captain his nation from 2000 to 2004. The all-rounder was his nation’s all-time leading wicket-taker in tests.
Between 1993 and 2005, he played in 65 tests, taking 216 wickets and scoring 1,990 runs. Additionally, he took 239 wickets and scored 2,943 runs while playing in 189 one-day internationals.

Post-retirement Streak coached Bangladesh while also serving as the bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders, winners of the Indian Premier League twice.
After acknowledging violations of the anti-corruption code of the International Cricket Council in 2021, he was given an eight-year suspension from the sport. He acknowledged “full responsibility” for his deeds but maintained that he had never attempted to manipulate a match.
Sean Williams, the captain of Zimbabwe’s test team, said Streak left “a legacy for us to live up to.”
