Pakistan faces tough path to Asia Cup finals, relying on other teams.
In the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup yesterday, the Pakistani team faced the worst defeat against India. Defeated by a wide margin, the national team’s net run rate is currently minus 1.892, which is now the lowest among all teams in the Super Four round.
Talking about the points table of the Super Four Round, Pakistan came to the third position with 2 points after losing to the Indian team. India and Sri Lanka are also at the first and second position with two points each, while Bangladesh has been eliminated from the Super Four round.
The national team will have to win the match against Sri Lanka scheduled on September 14 to reach the final. Before that, the Indian team must win today’s match between Sri Lanka and India.
If Sri Lanka wins against India today and if India beats Bangladesh then Pakistan will still be out of the tournament despite winning their match against Sri Lanka.
In case all the remaining matches of the Super Four stage are washed out, the teams of India and Sri Lanka will play the final. The final of the Asia Cup is scheduled for September 17 in Colombo, which will be played between the top 2 teams of the Super Four round.
