WASHINGTON: Army chief (COAS) Bajwa assure armed force stay apolitical

Gen Bajwa reiterates that he will retire after completing his second term which is three-year November.
Gen. Bajwa gave his remarks during a lunch held at the Pakistan Embassy in Washington, where he also reaffirmed an earlier vow he had made to leave office when his second three-year tenure ended in November.

According to those in attendance, the COAS addressed the gathering before lunch and then made remarks that are informally talking to the guests. He emphasized that reviving Pakistan’s debilitated economy should be the top priority of all as the nation would not be able to achieve its goals without an economy that is robust.

The army chief told the audience, which included senior Pakistani diplomats, that diplomacy couldn’t exist without a strong economy.

The COAS met with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon following lunch.

General Bajwa spoke with Secretary of Defense General (ret.) Lloyd James Austin III, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)., National Security Adviser Jacob Jeremiah Sullivan, and Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Ruth Sherman.

The leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, and bilateral cooperation in various fields during the meeting.

According to the military’s media wing, the army commander thanked the US government representatives for their support and reaffirmed that help from “our global allies would be important for the rescue of flood victims in Pakistan.”

Both sides noted that Pakistan and the US had a history that is long of cooperation and that both countries shall continue improving their economic, trade, and investment ties.
