FBR To Set a Currency Limit For Outgoing Foreign Travelers

FBR sets $5,000 limit per visit and $30,000 annually for travelers.

The new yearly maximum FBR currency limit restriction for travellers withdrawing foreign money would be in effect starting in 2023. Wednesday, the FBR released SRO2043(I)/2022 here by way of proposed modifications to the 2006 Baggage Rules.

According to the updated luggage regulations, anybody travelling overseas (apart from Afghanistan) is permitted to bring out of Pakistan US dollars or the equivalent in other foreign currencies, subject to the restrictions listed in Table ‘A’ of the regulations.

The maximum allowance per person per visit is $5,000 USD (or equivalent in other foreign currencies) for passengers who are 18 years of age and older (adults). yearly cap suggested at US$30,000 (or the equivalent in other foreign currencies).

The maximum allowance per person per visit is US$2,500 (or similar in other foreign currencies) for passenger who is under the age of 18.

The suggested yearly cap per individual in US dollars (or equivalent in other foreign currencies) is $15,000 US. Passengers arriving and departing: FBR establishes new guidelines for money declaration

FBR has Stablished Foreign Currency Cash Limitations

Additionally, the FBR has established foreign currency cash limitations for travellers going to Afghanistan. The maximum per-visit amount is US$1000 (or similar in other currencies). The yearly cap amount is US$6,000 per person (or its equivalent in other foreign currencies).

For a calendar year beginning in 2023, the yearly luggage limitations for outgoing passengers for the relevant countries will be as per Tables “A” and “B.”

The current yearly restrictions in place before the issuing of this notification shall, however, remain in effect for the calendar year 2022 until December 31, 2022.

Before or at the moment of departure, electronically in the WeBOC or pass track, manually at the airport, or both, any individual carrying foreign cash or any other forbidden or restricted item out of Pakistan must submit a declaration in the table as described in Appendix-C.

the arriving passenger shall additionally file a declaration in the Form as described in Appendix-C when in possession of any prohibited or restricted item, or foreign money exceeding US $10,000 or equivalent.

The declaration asked the passengers to declare if they were bringing any of the following items into Pakistan: prohibited or restricted goods such as weapons and ammunition, narcotics, psychoactive substances, satellite phones, etc.; gold and precious metals, jewellery, precious or semi-precious stones; foreign currency in US $ for outbound passengers to all countries; incoming passengers bringing into Pakistan an amount exceeding US $ 10,000 or equivalent; and any other items requiring declaration.
