2 million Muslims gather for Shab-e-Qadr prayers at Masjid Al Haram.
Muslims gathered at the holiest location in Islam because Shab-e-Qadr is thought to be the night when the Prophet Muhammad PBUH received the first verses of the Holy Quran.
Worshippers offer the Isha prayer as well as the Taraweeh and Qiyamullail night prayers. Due to significant influxes of pilgrims who travelled to Saudi Arabia for the final 10 days of the blessed month. It was reported that roads leading to Masjid Al Haram were clogged with believers.
Over 100 gates, including three for Umrah performers, 68 for worshippers, 50 for emergencies, and 40 internal gates, were used to efficiently let in worshippers and Umrah pilgrims.
Nearly 4,000 government employees have been stationed at Masjid Al Haram and its courtyards, where staff members are constantly disinfecting the courtyards and hallways of the Grand Mosque.
For the faithful’s transportation, special cars were set up, and escalators were running for the benefit of the elderly and those with disabilities.
