Who is Ayesha?
Human rights advocate Ayesha Gulali Wazir got her start in politics in South Waziristan. Ayesha is a social activist who joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2012 and was elected to the PTI central committee.
Wazir was one of the youngest members of parliament when she was indirectly elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan in 2013 as a PTI candidate on a designated seat for women from the FATA.
She left PTI in August 2017 and claimed that the party did not protect women’s rights to respect and dignity. She had accused Imran Khan of sending her offensive texts in October 2013.
Ayesha established Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as a division of PTI in February 2018.
Ayesha was formerly a member of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and the Pakistan People’s Party’s Chief Coordinator for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas before joining the PTI.
