Dubai's Global Village Praises Pakistan Pavilion's Theme and Design

DUBAI: Global Village, one of the top tourist destinations in Dubai.

Global Village features more than 200 restaurants, the recently constructed House of Fear, and a helium balloon ride that soars 200 feet in the air to give visitors a bird’s-eye view of the city’s skyline.

“The facade for this year is lovely. It’s quite colorful. Executive Marketing Director Jaki Ellenby granted an exclusive interview. “It was inspired by the Lahore Fort, but they added brilliantly colored windows, and each window has a design reflecting the country’s provinces,” she said.

There are many businesses inside the pavilion, some of which, according to her, provide crafts that are a vanishing tradition in the nation. “We have female carpet weavers. Additionally, there are shoemakers here who work with leather to create exquisite slippers and shoes from Pakistan.

As winter approaches, here are 5 things to do in Dubai

A Pakistani guy with a PhD in physics who enjoys art as a pastime opened an art business, which particularly excites Ellenby. He was persuaded to utilise Global Village to display his ability by his son, a resident of Dubai. Bundoo Khan, though, maybe the thing that has her most enthused.

Bundoo Khan has visited Global Village ever since it opened. It’s a favourite among the entire crew here. In fact, going there on the first night has kind of become a ritual for the crew.

There are 26 pavilions of different nations, including two new entrants, Qatar and Oman, aside from Pakistan. 2020 had 4.5 million visits to Global Village during the epidemic. With 7.8 million visitors, it enjoyed its best season the previous year. The organisers want to surpass that amount this year.

We’ve been succeeding greatly (so far). It is quite well-liked. I believe people have been quite thrilled since we had a record-breaking opening day, said Ellenby.

Global Village “Design week” solidifies Dubai’s position as the world’s new cultural hub

Even though Expo isn’t taking place this year, we’ve observed an increase in people, so who knows where we’ll finish up. Instead of having many visitors, having content guests is what matters most to us.

More than 250 restaurants, cafés, and street food alternatives can be found in Global Village, along with 3,500 retail establishments and 40,000 performances.

To give you an idea, Ellenby added, “with our main stage, our kid’s theatre, and of course, all the amazing cultural acts that are in each of the pavilions, we have over 400 different performers from across the world.” The current season of Global Village will run through April 29, 2023, with entry ticket prices starting at Dh18.

An enterprise incubator Ellenby stated, “We are a very well-known tourist destination in the region,” while discussing the effect Global Village has on Dubai’s reputation as a major international commercial centre.  The fact that Global Village also acts as a business partner and an incubator for a large number of companies is less widely recognised.

Asim Munir becomes Pakistan's New Chief of Army Staff (COAS)

Federal government announces Lt. Gen. Asim Munir as next army chief.

“We don’t know who they will nominate, but the president and I have agreed to play by the rules and follow the Constitution and the law.”
Lt Gen Asim Munir: A Synopsis

Using his constitutional authority, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also appointed Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, according to Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

The summary of the appointments has been given to President Arif Alvi for approval, the information minister continued. The most senior military commanders were chosen for both positions.

After receiving permission from the associated parties to choose the officers for the top positions, PM Shehbaz called a federal cabinet meeting to discuss the selections.

Although the president, who is a member of the PTI, has received the summary, the coalition allies had already cautioned him to avoid being loyal to his party and to act in the best interests of the state.

Asif desires to avoid “controversy”

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif acknowledged that the president had received the summary in a talk with the media following the federal cabinet meeting.

“All the issues have been resolved in accordance with the Pakistani Constitution, and hopefully the president won’t stir up any trouble,” Asif remarked. The minister went on to say that he anticipates President Alvi will accept the premier’s recommendation.

He said that he hoped the selections in question wouldn’t be seen as political.

Regarding PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s discussion of the issue with President Alvi, the minister declined to comment. He claimed to have tweeted about the subject.

He asserted that there should be no controversy about the Pakistani Air Force, Navy, or Army. Asif announced that a thorough press statement on the progress will be released.

I’ll play with the President

PTI Chairman Imran Khan stated that President Alvi was in touch with him and would discuss the nomination of the top two seats as soon as word spread that the summary will be delivered soon.

According to the PTI head, “I am in communication with the president regarding the summary relating to a critical appointment.” “I have spoken to him” (the president). He’ll talk to me about everything. I am a party leader because the prime minister is going to a runaway. He will undoubtedly talk about

Khan declared he was skeptical about Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the PML-N. I want the choice to be based on merit, not who is chosen to lead the army, he said, adding that he has no stake in the outcome because he has “no corruption cases to settle with their assistance.”

“The issue was quite straightforward. The seniority rules have been established. The army is aware of which of its members are capable, but I have my doubts about the huge corrupt mafia—the group that will select and appoint them—and not the individual who will be chosen.

Who is Asim Muneer?

After graduating from the Mangala Officers Training School, Lt Gen Asim Munir joined the Pakistani Army and was commissioned into the Frontier Force Regiment.

Gas Supply is Still Limited in Pakistan

Winter gas load shedding in Pakistan now routine, straining industrial

According to how things have changed thus far, these winters may not necessarily be considerably harsher in terms of gas load shedding. There is a lot in the dark in terms of LNG Gas supply come the three months starting December.

Qatar and China signing the biggest LNG agreement in history, the market won’t be very active until at least 2026. Market watchers, there won’t be any new supply contracts on the LNG long-term contract market for at least three more years. The ships around the western coasts are gradually getting their opportunity to unload. All things considered, even though winter is harder than previous, Europe has generally secured a sufficient supply.

Gas Supply is Still Limited in Pakistan

LNG Gas Supply Cargo Imports

The LNG market will enter a bear market since Europe continues to be the preferred destination and because the differential between East and West has grown as a result of Europe‘s daily decline in Russian imports. Given that the spot market will account for the majority of price variation, the near certainty surrounding long-term contracts does indicate price stability.

Pakistan continued to handle 10 LNG cargoes during the November price determination reference period. The composition has altered since Pakistan hasn’t had any takers for its invites to bids from the spot market in a while. The import of LNG is nearly fully supported by long-term agreements with several partners at varied rates. Contrary to the previous year, there have not been many last-minute cancellations of cargo on the spot market.

But since Pakistan relies mostly on supply from state-owned contracts, which have a better track record of being honored, there isn’t much to be canceled. Since the Slope is based on the trailing three-month Brent oil price average, lower Brent prices will be helpful.

Gas Supply is Still Limited in Pakistan

The average consumer RLNG price, excluding GST, for November has been calculated to be roughly $14/MMBtu; it has been steadily declining since June 2022 and has been a fairly constant month over month.

Nearly half of the long-term contractual supply is now covered by PSO contracts at 10.2% of Brent, substantially reducing the average Delivered Ex-Ship Price. The administration has not indicated that it would change its policy of prioritizing the local market.

Nevertheless, despite explicit agreements with the IMF, a decision about weighted average gas prices is still waiting. Remember how the government decided to increase consumer gas prices by more than what the authorities had set? Gas prices may have peaked, but supply will still fall short of the demand for the season.

A top aim is to enhance smartphone access so that everyone in Pakistan may participate in the digital economy and reap the socio-economic benefits of higher smartphone adoption.

While praising the program, he added that connection is just as important as smartphones and that the Ministry of IT has launched several connectivity initiatives throughout the nation using the Universal Service Fund (USF).

According to him, initiatives worth Rs 65 billion have been started in the previous four years to provide broadband services in the nation’s unreached and underserved areas.

He said that 28 various initiatives have been started this year to offer telecom services in various regions of the nation. The team at Universal Service Fund, led by CEO Haaris Chaudhary, received praise from Pakistan’s IT Minister for their success in bringing broadband to remote and underserved communities.

Haque stated that initiatives are being taken to boost IT exports. According to him, efforts are being made to resolve problems in the telecom sector. He said that the Ministry of IT’s objective is to empower young people, particularly women.

According to the minister

Google has registered with SECP and has chosen to create an office in Pakistan. In the second week of December, a Google delegation will visit Pakistan. Facebook officials and TikTok also want to work together to create offices there.

The specifics state that Kistpay offers the quickest application approval procedure for Shariah-Compliant Smartphone Financing on top smartphone manufacturers with plans ranging from 3 to 12 months.

A connected population is a fundamental component of a digital nation from which flows digital economic development, empowered industry and entrepreneurs, and enhanced livelihoods for every person, according to Julian Gorman, Head of Asia-Pacific (APAC), GSMA.

At the event, Major General Amir Azeem Bajwa (retd), Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), praised Kistpay and the GSMA for their efforts in bridging the pricing gap for smartphones, which is a significant obstacle to the use of mobile internet.

He said that easier access to cell phones would boost informational access, which will foster the growth of micro-businesses and lower poverty.

Syed Asif Jafri, CEO of Kistpay, spoke at the occasion and emphasized the difficulties that the majority of Pakistanis encounter in obtaining cell phones and financing that complies with Shariah.

“Kistpay will empower millions of unconnected individuals for digital and financial inclusion so that they may enjoy the advantages of a digitally connected existence,” Asif Jafri continued.

According to Asif Aziz

CCO of Jazz, the government must stop the import and local production of 2G phones, give priority to the local assembly of 4G-enabled smartphones, develop and put into place a regulatory framework that permits telecom companies to offer smartphones on installments, and lower the withholding tax on essential telecom services from 15% to 8% in order to make the transition to mobile broadband easier for an additional 50 million people over the next three years. This will accelerate the adoption of digital technology and greatly expand the general public’s socioeconomic options.

Karachi is Likely to Decrease Temperature 17°C in Next 24 Hours

PMD reports Karachi low at 16.5° degree Celsius on Wednesday morning.

The Karachi city’s weather is expected to stay dry during the next 24 hours, with a low temperature of 17°C to 19°C and a little fog. Temperatures as high as 31°C to 33°C are possible, according to the Met department. The city has 66% humidity and slowly blowing northeastern winds, according to the report.

Overall impression

The majority of the nation may anticipate chilly, dry weather during the next 12 hours, although plain portions of Punjab may see foggy conditions in the early morning, according to Radio Pakistan.

According to the Met department’s forecast for the following two months, the country is likely to see below-normal air pressure and a weak La Nina scenario.

Overall, it predicted that the country is likely to see normal to below-average precipitation, with the biggest negative departure occurring in the northern half.

While southern Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh are anticipated to get approximately normal precipitation throughout the predicted season, northern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan may have below-average precipitation.

The outlook document stated that during the forecast season, “temperatures are expected to remain above normal over northern parts of the country, slightly above normal over western to south-western parts, and nearly normal over eastern parts with a tendency towards below normal night-time temperatures over southwestern parts.”

Impact

During the predicted season, a progressive drop in temperatures is anticipated. The country’s Kharif crop harvesting will benefit from the dry circumstances at the beginning of the season.

However, irrigating rabi crops, particularly wheat, at regular intervals is necessary for better development during the initial/vegetative phases.

Dry weather would have a detrimental influence on the country’s urban (Southern and Central Punjab) air quality index. Upper Sindh and southern portions of Punjab will also see dust-raising winds.

Objection to 'Joyland' petition overruled

LHC Justice overrules registrar objection in “Joyland” film petition.

The judge heard the petition as an “objection case” since the office questioned its viability. The petitioner, Mian Bilal, argued through his counsel that the film’s concept and content are centered on a man’s love and relationship with a transgender person. He said that the picture included ‘objectionable’ material that violated the country’s social ideals and moral standards.

As a result, the petitioner urged the court to prohibit the film’s exhibition and to require the government to revoke its censoring certificate.
