Defence and Martyrs Day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country to salute the martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives to defend the dear motherland.
On the occasion of Defense Day, President Asif Zardari issued a message and said that this day reminds us of the unwavering national commitment to the defense of national sovereignty.
He said that the armed forces are always ready to deal with the challenges facing national sovereignty, national integrity, and lasting peace in the region is possible only by solving the plight of the Kashmiri people.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in his message that the great soldiers of the forces defeated the invading enemy on September 6, 1965.
He stated that the unresolved Kashmir issue is the biggest obstacle to peace and development in the region. The division of Kashmir remains an incomplete agenda of the subcontinent, and leaders must resolve it in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Army Chief General Asim Munir
Army Chief General Asim Munir has said in his special message on the occasion of Vishahda Defence Day that September 6 has a prominent position in national and military history.
He said that on this day, the army, navy, and air forces crushed the evil intentions of the enemy, the spirit of national unity and solidarity on the occasion of the September war is a source of pride for the armed forces and the nation.
On the occasion of Defence and Martyrs Day, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Service Chiefs, and Armed Forces said in their message that they are remembering with pride the victorious legacy of the 1965 war which is an example of indomitable determination and unwavering spirit of the nation.
According to ISPR, the day pays tribute to the sacrifice and courage of the brave men who defended the motherland, 59 years ago, Pakistan forces decisively thwarted the nefarious intentions of the enemy and achieved a historic victory.
The 1965 war, forever etched in history, highlighted the nation’s strength and determination during times of hardship, as the armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the country from all threats and challenges.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi while issuing a message on Defence Day said that September 6, 1965, is an unforgettable day in the history of Pakistan. On September 6, the brave armed forces of Pakistan fully defended the motherland.
The Pakistan Army gave a befitting reply, the soldiers of the Pakistan Army repulsed the enemy with unparalleled bravery.
He stated that the sacrifices of the martyrs and the courage and bravery of the military men define our identity and pride, and we will always remember them.
History is unable to provide any other example of creating timeless stories of the bravery of the Pakistan Army.
He made it clear that the nation salutes the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the motherland. The martyrs, who sacrificed their precious lives for the defense of the motherland, are our honor, pride, and glory. The whole nation stands with the martyrs of the homeland and their families.
It expresses complete solidarity, this day reminds us of the bravery and determination of our military men, we reiterate our determination today that we will not avoid sacrificing our lives for the defense of the motherland.
