Researchers at the University of Tokyo in Japan have discovered a simple way to make synthetic diamonds.
According to the study, published in the Journal Science Advances, the researchers tested organic substances known as carbon-rich compounds on specific molecules to discovered diamonds. These molecules were targeted at a specific angle by an electron beam, which caused them to turn into tiny diamonds.

For the first time, Japanese experts have successfully completed the process of creating natural or industrial diamonds at room temperature. Normally, this requires extremely high temperatures (about 1,500 degrees Celsius) and heavy pressure.
Experts predict that this new approach could lead to significant advances in materials science, electronics, biological research and quantum technologies in the future. In addition to being more stable, Nano-scale diamonds have the potential to be highly efficient sources of optical and electrical energy.
