Extension of the Assembly Term is not Being Considered

The Supreme Court Review of Judgements and Orders Bill was approved by the National Assembly and Senate on May 8. The measure was presented to President Arif Alvi for official enactment.

In compliance with Supreme Court regulations and Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) Acts. Article 188 of the Constitution grants the Supreme Court the power to reconsider any decision or directive it has issued.

Before the passage of this law, an aggrieved person who had an order imposed against them in accordance with clause (3) of Article 184 of the Constitution had the right to file a review petition. Within sixty days of the new law implementation, the person must file the petition.
