Renowned the Urdu writer Munawwar Rana passed away at 71 in Lucknow.
At the age of 71, Munawwar Rana, a well-known figure in Urdu literature for many years, passed away in an Indian hospital in Lucknow.
His family announced on Sunday that cardiac arrest was the reason of his death. In addition, he had multiple medical issues, including cancer.
The deceased, who is recognized as one of the leading authors of contemporary Urdu literature, was admitted to the hospital around two weeks ago. Munawwar was coping with problems relating to his kidneys and heart in addition to cancer.
Throughout his illustrious career, he received numerous honors, such as the Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of poems in 2014.
However, the dissent writer returned his award to express his disapproval of the increasing intolerance in India.
His literary contributions were numerous and diverse across several decades. His well-known poem “Maa” brought him much recognition.
