Islamabad court jails former minister Fawad Chaudhry on fraud case.
According to his wife, Fawad, the former federal minister who abruptly quit from PTI due to the violence on May 9, was taken into custody from his Islamabad residence.
Breaking news headlines state that former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry appeared before Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mehmood’s court after a one-day physical remand in a financial fraud case.
The court denied the police’s request to extend the PTI leader’s physical remand so they could conduct additional investigation during today’s hearing. The court then placed him in jail on judicial remand.

On August 22, 2022, authorities took Fawad into custody in a case filed at the Aabpara police station. They arrested him under sections 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which penalizes abetment if the act abetted a crime and there is no express provision for its punishment, 186 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which forbids obstructing a public servant in the performance of their official duties, 188 of the law, which penalizes disobedience to an order duly issued by a public servant, 341 of the Penal Code, and 506.
According to news today headlines on November 4, Zaheer Ahmed filed a fraud FIR against Fawad Chaudhry, the former leader of the Pakistan Teachers’ Association.
According to the FIR, Zaheer Ahmed handed Fawad Chaudhry Rs 50 million. When Zaheer asked for the money back, Fawad allegedly offered him two government jobs in exchange. Later, Fawad threatened Zaheer Ahmed with his two-armed guards.
