Government Maintains Current Petrol Products prices for next 15 Days.
As per Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Finance and Revenue, the government has decided to maintain the current prices of petrol products for the next 15 days in order to assist the general public in the nation and, in particular, to relieve lower-income individuals during the harsh winters.
The minister stated during a news conference that this pricing would be the effective beginning.
The determination to maintain the current prices of petroleum products in the local market, as per him, was made in accordance with special instructions from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in order to provide relief to the general public, particularly the lower income groups, and to ensure that households have access to fuel at reasonable prices to meet their winter needs.
He continued, stating that the cost of diesel would stay the same at its existing price of Rs227.80 per liter, that petrol would cost Rs214.80 per liter, kerosene oil would cost Rs171.83 per liter, and that light diesel would cost Rs169.00 per liter.
Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) preferred an increase in kerosene oil prices of Rs 8.76 per liter and light diesel oil prices of Rs 7.73 per liter due to fluctuations in petroleum prices on the international markets, but the government decided against doing so and finally agreed to keep the current prices for other petroleum products.
