Hamas Leader Died in Israeli Custody

According to news Hamas leader in West Bank, died in Israeli custody.

Palestinian authorities and Hamas said on Friday that Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ara, a leader of the group in the West Bank, died in Israeli custody.

According to the French news agency AFP, a joint statement by the Palestinian Authority’s Department of Prisoners and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said: ’63-year-old Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ara has died in custody in southern Israel. ‘

Hamas said in a statement: “We mourn the death of leader Sheikh Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ara and hold the occupation (Israel) responsible for his murder through deliberate medical negligence.”

The Palestinian Authority and the watchdog said Abu Ara was arrested in October 2023 when he was suffering from serious health issues.

He further said that he was starved and subjected to torture during detention.

The Israeli army did not immediately comment on the matter.

Palestinian officials this month accused Tel Aviv of waging a sordid “war of revenge” against Palestinian prisoners since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
