Hammad Azhar Announces Withdrawal from General Elections 2024

PTI leader Hammad Azhar announces his withdrawal from the elections.

Leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former minister Hammad Azhar announced his withdrawal from the upcoming general elections in a major declaration on Wednesday.

The ruling was made at a Supreme Court session presided over by Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Jamal Mandukhel in relation to the matter involving the denial of Hammad Azhar’s nomination documents.

The court was informed by the assistant counsel that Hammad Azhar had decided not to continue the appeal during the hearings. The Supreme Court’s position is unambiguous: Article 62 1F does not always apply. Justice Mansoor expressed concerns about the High Court’s use of Article 62 1F in its ruling.

Judge Mansoor noted that the PTI leader will not profit from the ruling in reaction to the appeal’s abandonment. According to Justice Jamal, it seemed that Hammad Azhar had no intention of giving up.

Following this, the former minister declared his resignation from the elections, and Hammad’s attorney formally withdrew the appeal from the court. Notably, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar was running from NA-129 as an independent.
