Imran Khan Acquitted in 2 Cases of Vandalism during Long March

PTI Imran Khan acquitted in 2 cases of vandalism during Long March.

District and Sessions Courts Islamabad accepted the acquitted plea of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in 2 cases of vandalism during the Long March.

According to News’, Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi heard the court appearance and acquittal plea in 2 cases of vandalism during the long march of Imran Khan.

Imran Khan’s lawyers, Naeem Haider Panjutha, Sardar Ghazal and Amina Ali appeared in the court.

During the hearing, Naeem Haider Panjutha requested that Imran Khan be summoned to court.

Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi remarked that first Imran Khan’s plea for acquittal should be discussed, if anything happens while bringing Imran Khan to court, who will be responsible?

Naeem Panjutha said that Imran Khan has been appearing in courts by himself before, Zaman Park operation was conducted, warrants were issued, government’s job is to provide security.

He pleaded that he wanted to give arguments in the presence of Imran Khan, but the court rejected Imran Khan’s request for court production.

Judge Shaista Kundi remarked that attendance on bail would have been necessary to be presented is not necessary.

On Imran Khan’s plea for acquittal, lawyer Naeem Panjutha argued that all the cases against Imran Khan are limited to Emma, several cases were filed in a single day, Imran Khan has the same role.

Section 144

He further said that the notification of the implementation of Section 144 was not issued, nor was it told, the plaintiff is the SHO who has no authority to register the case, not even the statements of the witnesses in the cases registered against Imran Khan.

Judge Shaista Kundi inquired whether Imran Khan had been acquitted in the cases before? Lawyer Naeem Panjutha replied that Imran Khan had been acquitted in several cases even before this.

The court reserved the decision on Imran Khan’s plea of acquittal in both the Long March vandalism cases.

Later, the court granted Imran Khan’s acquittal in both the cases while pronouncing safe verdict.

Background

It may be recalled that in the context of PTI’s long march that ended in Islamabad in May 2022, the police across the country registered dozens of cases against PTI leaders and workers for serious violations including Section 144.

In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, police in the capital had registered at least three cases against PTI leaders and activists for resisting law enforcement and damaging state property, including setting fire to metro bus stations Also included.

Cases were registered against Imran Khan in Sihala Police Lohi Bhir.
