MQM Leader Babar Ghauri Reached Karachi

MQM leader Babar Ghauri arrives in the Karachi via foreign airline.

The former senator Babar Ghauri arrived in Karachi from Dubai, accompanied by his wife. Ghauri returned to Pakistan after obtaining protective bail from the Sindh High Court in two cases (SHC).

Babar Ghauri, leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, was granted protective bail by the Supreme Court on Friday in two terrorism and corruption cases. Ghauri was granted protective bail in two cases until February 6 in exchange for Rs200,000 in surety bonds.

Last year, the MQM politician left for Dubai after being acquitted by an anti-terrorism court in a case involving facilitating provocative speech (ATC).

Babar Ghori was charged with an inflammatory speech in 2015 but was found not guilty due to a lack of evidence.

It is worth noting that the politician was apprehended as soon as he landed at Karachi airport on July 4 after ending his self-exile.

Babar Ghauri was arrested for alleged involvement in a corruption and terrorism case. According to the sources, he has been moved to an unidentified location and will appear in court.

When he was federal minister for Ports and Shipping between 2008 and 2013, Babar and others were accused of massive corruption amounting to Rs2.8 billion in Karachi Port Trust (KPT).
